Last period: due = LMP + 280 days + (cycle length − 28) Conception: due = conception + 266 days IVF: due = transfer + 263 days (day-3 embryo) or + 261 days (day-5 embryo)
A due date is 40 weeks after the first day of the last period, which assumes ovulation on day 14 of a 28-day cycle; longer or shorter cycles move it. It marks the middle of the likely window, not a deadline: most babies arrive between 38 and 42 weeks. A dating scan in the first trimester is the most accurate method.
