f = v ÷ λ f = 1 ÷ T
Frequency is how many cycles pass each second, in hertz. Green light near 550 nm oscillates about 545 trillion times a second; mains electricity at 50 Hz has a period of 20 ms. For sound, the speed (and so the frequency for a given wavelength) depends on the medium and its temperature.
