How it's calculated
Hours = (end − start, + 24 h if the end is past midnight) − break
Counts the time between two clock times on a 24-hour clock, then takes off a break. When the end is earlier than the start, the time runs past midnight into the next day. Decimal hours (8.5 = 8 h 30 min) are what most payroll systems use.
